Musical Director Eckart Preu brings festive favorites with Holiday Pops

Dec 10, 2008

For Immediate Release

Contact: Annie Matlow 326-3136

It’s that time of year again!  Musical Director Eckart Preu and the Spokane Symphony are bringing the family favorite Holiday Pops back to the INBPerformingArtsCenter on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 8 pm and Sunday, Dec. 21 at 2 pm.  The concert will also include the Spokane Symphony Chorale, directed by Dr. Lori Wiest, and the Spokane Children’s Chorus, directed by Kristina Ploeger, and a special visit by Santa himself.

This fun-filled, festive concert features some of the most beloved Christmas tunes as well as a few pieces that are specially selected for this holiday set. The Chorale will be lending their incredible voices to “A Feast of Carols”, “O Holy Night”, and “Here Comes Santa Claus.” The Children’s Chorus will be performing several pieces, including “Silent Night”, “Irish Lullaby” and a new piece called “Hey! Now.”

With the holiday atmosphere firmly in place, the Spokane Symphony will deliver a selection of instrumental pieces, including “A Christmas Overture” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”  An audience sing-along, plenty of holiday magic and an appearance by Santa Claus make the INB glisten with the sights and sounds of the season.  From the “The Night Before Christmas” to “Nightmare Before Christmas” this Holiday Pops is just the ticket to put you and your loved ones in the Holiday spirit!

The Symphony’s gift to the Community this year is a specially priced family package for the Matinee performance: $49 for a Family of Four. Additional tickets may be purchased for $15 each.

The Residents of Rockwood Retirement Communities are the underwriters of this concert.

Tickets range from $30 to $46 on Saturday night and from $19 to $32 on Sunday afternoon.  All children 12 and under get in to the Sunday performance for $12 a ticket.  There are also Family Four Pack tickets available for the Sunday performance for just $49.

All tickets are available in advance at the Spokane Symphony Ticket Office, located at 1001 W. Sprague inside Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox, or by calling 509-624-1200. Tickets are also available at all TicketsWest outlets or by calling 1-800-325-SEAT or at spokanesymphony.org.
