Symphony Announces Two New Concerts:
Brandi Carlile and the Magical Music of Walt Disney

Jan 7, 2009

For Immediate Release

Contact: Annie Matlow 326-3136

SPOKANE – The Spokane Symphony is pleased to announce two new additions to the Spring Specials concert line up. Singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile will grace the stage of the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox on Thursday, April 23, and audiences will love the Symphony performing the music of Walt Disney at the theater on Friday, May 15. Both concerts will be at 7:30 pm.

Brandi Carlile found fame as the soundtrack for “Grey’s Anatomy,” and has made several national appearances including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and The Early Show’s “Second Cup Cafe.” Her self titled album, Brandi Carlile, released in 2005, landed her on Rolling Stone’s “10 Artists to Watch in 2005” list. Carlile has been touring nonstop for the last four years, headlining shows in England, Portugal, Switzerland, Australia, and Mexico. She has also performed with several musical artists including Ray LaMontagne, Johnny Lang, The Indigo Girls, The Fray, Chris Isaak, Maroon 5, Tori Amos, and Shawn Colvin. The Seattle Times raves, “To hear Carlile nail it live...is to experience a little slice of pop heaven.”

Hear the music that has enchanted generations live in concert, complete with stunning visuals from the Disney vault. The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and Aladdin, are just a few of the classics to be featured during The Magical Music of Walt Disney. Listen to music composed by Elton John, Phil Collins, Alan Menken, Hans Zimmer, and Jerry Goldsmith, as well as old favorites by Beethoven, Gershwin, Respighi, Elgar, and Shostakovich. All of these famous names have contributed to the music of Disney, making this concert a musical must for children and adults alike.

Tickets for both concerts will go on sale on Tuesday, January 13.

Tickets for Brandi Carlile on April 25 are $35 and $39. Tickets for The Magical Music of Walt Disney on May 15 are $32 and $37, and $14 for children.
