SPOKANE: Fabulous music with concert lighting, video projection, refreshments and a really big band on stage describes the Spokane Symphony's latest foray in bringing great music to the people.

Symphony on the Edge at the Big Easy Concert Hall on Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m. will serve as an introduction for most of the listeners. Some will see the Big Easy for the first time and some will hear the Symphony for the first time.

The Symphony's new 35-year-old conductor has selected music he describes as hard-driving, riveting and provocative. He and the almost 50-piece orchestra will play exciting music chosen to stimulate and excite the listener. Short pieces by Prokofiev, Villa-Lobos, Vivaldi, Bernstein, Ginastera and even a fellow named Ludwig will cover a gamut of music with an edge.

The all-ages non-smoking performance will include seating for all ticket holders. Refreshments will be available for this general admission concert. Tickets are just $18 each and $16 for Symphony subscribers.
