Cartoon Character Costume Contest features Looney Tunes prizes for whole family

SPOKANE— George Daugherty, creator of Bugs Bunny on Broadway, the record-setting orchestra-and-film concert that reinvented a new genre of symphony orchestra event, will conduct the Spokane Symphony in an all new production Bugs Bunny at the Symphony. This exciting fusion of classic cartoons with live symphony orchestra will be performed at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m.

Bugs Bunny at the Symphony will spotlight some of the original cartoon treasures of Bugs Bunny on Broadway, while adding an enlarged “cast” of Warner Bros.’ animated characters and cartoons to this celebrated melding of classical music and classic animation.

In keeping with the Looney fun this event promises and the fact that the concerts are on Halloween weekend, the Spokane Symphony is proud to announce we will be holding a costume contest for concertgoers of all ages to participate in during our Bugs Bunny at the Symphony concert.

The contest is open to anyone attending the concert, although you may only win once (must purchase a ticket to win). Those entering simply come to either of the Bugs Bunny performances dressed up as their favorite cartoon character from Looney Tunes, Warner Bros., or other animated show. Judging will take place before the concert and winners will be picked during intermission in the Theater lobby. There will be three categories: Children (entries 12 and under), Adults (those 13 and up), and a Family or Team, featuring groups of three or more.

Each night the person or family/team with the best costume in their category will then compete for the grand prize of Loony Tunes Golden Collection that includes over 20 DVDs of Loony Tunes cartoons and is valued at over $1,000. Runner ups will then receive free tickets to the Nutcracker, T-shirt or Bugs Bunny at the Symphony CD.

Tickets for either performance are $32, $34, and $46 and children’s tickets may be purchased for $14. Tickets are available in advance at the Spokane Symphony Ticket Office, located at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox, 1001 W. Sprague, or by calling 509-624-1200.
