Upcoming events for the Spokane Symphony and Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox through the end of February include:

Spokane Symphony Pops: America’s Favorite Cowboys: Riders in the Sky

Riders in the Sky celebrate their 30th anniversary of serving up cowboy music, complete with their own legendary wacky humor and way-out wit, by performing with the Spokane Symphony under the baton of Morihiko Nakahara at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 8:00 p.m. Ticket prices begin at $25. This concert is underwritten by Latah Creek Wine Cellars.

 

Spokane Symphony Classics: Brilliance and Virtuosity

Maestro Eckart Preu conducts the Spokane Symphony in a dazzling program designed to display the virtuosic brilliance of the music of three composers, not to mention the Spokane Symphony’s very own concertmaster Mateusz Wolski, who will be the soloist for Korngold’s magical Violin Concerto. The concert includes Bloch’s Three Jewish Poems and Stravinsky’s unforgettable Petrushka. Two performances will be held at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 8 p.m. and again on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 3 p.m. A pre-concert talk about the music will be held in the hall one hour before each performance. Ticket prices start at $14. As a Valentine Speical, concertgoers may purchase in advance a rose and small box of Bloem's chocolates for $10. This concert is underwritten by the Johnston Fix Foundation and William & Harriet Fix.


Spokane Symphony: Winter Chamber Soiree at the Davenport Hotel

The Chamber Soiree is a delightful evening of fine music in elegant surroundings in the Marie Antoinette Ballroom of the Davenport Hotel. Music selections, played by members of the orchestra, include a pair of duets for bassoon and cello, a string trio by Beethoven, and a string quartet by Dvorak.  Performances are on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. Relax at a table with wine and hors d’oeuvres for $45 or take a seat in the gallery for only $20. This concert is underwritten by Jeff and Martha Hamilton on behalf of Mobius.


Ken Davis: Fully Alive Comedy Concert for the Family

Ken Davis, best-selling author, gifted comedian and a master storyteller will delight Spokane audiences of all ages with Christian comedy that's actually funny at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. Ticket are $15, $18, $22, $24.


Announcing a new Spokane Symphony Special:
The Brothers Cazimero – Aloha in Spokane

The Brothers Cazimero, legends of Hawaiian music, will perform with the Spokane Symphony, conducted by Resident Conductor Morihiko Nakahara at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7:00 p.m. Their musical talent, incredible showmanship and infectious humor have bridged cultural gaps that naturally exist with ethnic music and dance. They will be accompanied by four hula dancers. Ticket prices begin at $20, $12 for children.

 

Spokane String Quartet: Mozart and Brahms

The Spokane String Quartet will perform a program of chamber music favorites including Mozart’s String Quartet No. 21 in D Major, Arvo Pärt’s Fratres and Brahms’ Quartet in C minor, No. 1 at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $18 for seniors, $15 for seniors and $10 for students. All tickets are general admission.

 

Spokane Symphony Classics: Sleeping Beauty and Other Tales

The Spokane Symphony, under the baton of guest conductor Danail Rachev, a native of Bulgaria who is currently the conductor of the Eugene Symphony, in a program of music inspired by fairytales. Music selections include Stravinsky’s Divertimento from The Fairy’s Kiss, Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty Suite, Glinka’s Russlan and Ludmilla, and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9.  Two performances will be held at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. and again on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. A pre-concert talk about the music will be held in the hall one hour before each performance. Tickets start at $14. This concert is underwritten by Brenda and LeRoy Nosbaum.


Looking Ahead:

Spokane Symphony Special: Amore - Opera in Love

An expertly crafted evening of the most popular melodies everyone knows (whether they know they know or not) brings the drama, romance, seduction and betrayal of Opera to the concert stage. The four talented young vocalists who will bring classic opera tales to life are Mela Dailey, soprano, Jami Tyzik, mezzo-soprano, Brandon Wood, tenor, and Marcus Deloach, baritone. This captivating performance will be on Friday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. Tickets begin at $27, $16 for students.
